Our History...
The Elim Church was established in Hereford after many years of prayer and as a direct result of powerful spirit –filled evangelism. The first evangelistic meeting took place on February 26th 1951, held at the Shire Hall, with Rev Percy Brewster, minister of Cardiff City Temple preaching. Regular meetings began in the Co-operative Hall, Bridge Street, as a result of this crusade.
In 1953 the young but growing congregation bought No1 Clive Street as a manse for their first minister. Pastor Harford had been in charge of the church since 1951, coming to Hereford from West Bromwich. Part of the land on Clive Street site had previously been used for a coal merchants business. The planners agreed to the demolition of outbuildings and the erection of the church building.
In 2003 the Clive Street site was sold and the former magistrate’s court on Gaol Street was purchased. This building serves as the current church centre. We run our Soup kitchen and other activities from this building. We now meet at Aylestone school for our sunday morning service.
